* The Power of Attitude

According to Dictionary.com, attitude is defined as a manner, disposition, feeling, or position with regard to a person or thing; a tendency or orientation, especially of the mind.

In simpler terms, it’s the way we mentally position ourselves toward people, situations, and goals—and I believe that orientation is one of the most powerful forces shaping our lives.

When I choose to believe that I can accomplish a task—even one filled with setbacks and uncertainty—that mindset alone becomes a foundation for success. It may not happen overnight. It may even take longer than I hoped. But perseverance that springs from a strong, determined attitude eventually opens the path forward.

When my attitude says “I can”, challenges lose their power to derail me. Obstacles become tools that shape me, not stop me. But when I approach that same challenge with doubt—when my inner voice whispers “I’m not enough”—I’ve already placed limits on myself. A negative mindset is often a quiet form of self-sabotage.

That’s why attitude isn’t a small thing. It’s everything.

It shapes not only how we experience the world internally—it ripples outward. A positive attitude can uplift teams, inspire change, and energize progress. Negativity, just as powerfully, can drain energy and limit potential. As Dennis and Wendy Mannering once said, “Attitudes are contagious. Are yours worth catching?”

There’s even a creative way to visualize this truth using a simple alphabet code where A=1, B=2, all the way to Z=26. Let’s see how some familiar words stack up:

  • HARD WORK = 8 + 1 + 18 + 4 + 23 + 15 + 18 + 11 = 98%

  • KNOWLEDGE = 11 + 14 + 15 + 23 + 12 + 5 + 4 + 7 + 5 = 96%

  • LOVE = 12 + 15 + 22 + 5 = 54%

  • LUCK = 12 + 21 + 3 + 11 = 47%

None of them reach the full mark.

Now try ATTITUDE:
1 + 20 + 20 + 9 + 20 + 21 + 4 + 5 = 100%

Not hard work. Not intelligence. Not luck.
Attitude is what gets you all the way there.

So let’s carry that with us, every day: the way we show up—mentally, emotionally, and energetically—has the power to determine our outcomes. When our attitude is anchored in belief, hope, and persistence, we don’t just chase success—we become unstoppable.
